Matthew Joy holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Composition from Berklee College of Music and a Master of Arts degree, with specialization in Jazz Studies, from Middle Tennessee State University. He has 20 years of experience teaching guitar, theory and composition to students of all levels, ages and various playing styles. He has been an active performer and composer for decades recording and performing in Boston, New York and Nashville as well as touring the U.S., Canada, U.K. and Europe.
Matthew is currently an adjunct professor of music at Florida Atlantic University teaching applied guitar, guitar studio, commercial music ensembles (Latin, blues, rock, fusion), and jazz guitar ensembles. He also works as a freelance editor and composer/arranger for various FJH Company’s guitar pedagogy selections. Matthew now lives in West Palm Beach with his wife and two children and performs regularly in and around the Palm Beach area.
